Cliff moved into Mineral Town around the same time that you took over the farm. He's very shy and spends most of his time quietly sitting in the Church. Cliff acts like a lost soul who is searching for a purpose. If you ask for his assitance during Duke's Fall Wine Harvest, Cliff will be greatful.
Cliff's Heart Events
Black HeartGo into the Mineral Church on Tuesday or Thursday between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Carter welcomes you and asks that you listen to his request. He says that the person sitting to the left is Cliff and he's had a bad year. Carter is asking that you talk to Cliff to help cheer him up. Cliff is new to Mineral Town too, just like you are. Cliff isn't a very talkative person.
Walk up to Cliff and he'll introduce himself. Carter's right, he does seem very sad! Cliff can't figure out why you're talking to him and asks if he has something on his face. He learns you're just trying to cheer him up, so he apologizes for seeming so tense. Tell him to Relax and he'll cheer up a little bit. Cliff says he's looking forward to talking to you again.
Purple HeartThis one can be tough to find at the Church if it's before you've seen the Fall Wine Harvest event. If it's before, you can see this on Monday, Wednesdays, or any rainy day at exactly 4:00 pm. If it's after the Wine event then you can see this from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
When you walk into the Church, Carter and Cliff will be inside. Carter says he's been talking to Cliff about having dinner at the Church and Cliff asks if you would like to dine together with them. You automatically agree. Carter says Ann will be bringing dinner by later, but in the meantime he would like the place cleaned up a little bit.
Suddenly Carter says he hears someone who needs his guidance from the Confessional booth. He goes to the booth and leaves you and Cliff alone together! Cliff is a little baffled, but asks if you would help him since Carter left. Tell him you will (option 2) and the two of you will get to work.
Carter will return once the cleaning is finished. He thanks the two of you for working on the meal. Now you all can enjoy it together. You'll exit the Church at 7:00 pm.

You can trigger this event by walking from Town screen north of your farm towards the Town screen where the Winery is located. The days are Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. This event can only occur after you have invited Cliff to the Fall Wine Harvest event.
You'll find Duke and Cliff talking together. Their work is done for the day, at least in Duke's opinion. Cliff is more than willing to continue working, but Duke tells him Manna worries about him working so much.
Duke will spot you walking by and ask to come over. He then suggests to Cliff that he take you up to Mother's Hill! Cliff stutters and says he has to keep working, but Duke boots him out of the vineyard.
At the top of Mother's Hill, Cliff apologizes for Duke's behavior. He enjoys the lifestyle of the town and says he really enjoys helping others. Cliff asks if you like working on your farm and you can tell him you like it (option 1) or you don't like it. He is glad to hear you too like to work and he enjoys working in the winery. Cliff then give you a Flower Decoration that he had created.
Yellow HeartWalk into the Winery's house on Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Inside you'll find Duke and Manna gossiping to each other. Duke is wondering if Manna doesn't care about Cliff, but Manna scolds him and says she does care, but she doesn't overly worry about him. It is none of their business what "they" do.
The two of them will then notice that you've walked in. They both greet you and Duke wants to ask a question. Manna tells him to mind his own business but Duke doesn't understand what's so bad about worrying for his family? Duke then asks you what you think Cliff's bad parts are. You can reply that he thinks too much (option 1) or nothing strikes you as being bad.
Duke and Manna are glad that you do understand him well to see that he does have his faults. Cliff walks in and tells them that he's done with the day's work. Duke then explains that you've come to have dinner with him! Cliff is glad to hear that and the two of you head to the Inn for a meal.
Cliff walks you home that evening and thanks you for dining with him.
Cliff's Rival Events
Black HeartGo to the 2nd floor of the Inn on a Spring night on any day except Saturday. Cliff will be upstairs, keeping to himself as usual, when Ann walks into his room to say hello. Cliff naturally pulls the shy-guy routine but Ann says she's just there to talk. She asks him the reason why he's moved to the village but Cliff replies that he's sorry, but he doesn't want to talk about it. Ann realizes she's walked upon a sensitive subject for him and apologizes for her question. She says she's going to go tidy up now but just before she leaves, Cliff thanks her.
This event won't trigger during the Summer after you have played through the first week of the season. It will become available again when you reach the Fall season.
Blue HeartWalk into the Church between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm before you reach Fall 1st of your first year. Inside you'll find Carter talking with super-shy Cliff. Carter is suggesting that Cliff go out and talk to the villagers, but Cliff says it's hard to talk to new people. Ann walks in and Carter warmly welcomes her. Cliff of course can only mumble a greeting. Ann is there to deliver Carter his lunch from the Inn and she asks Cliff what he's doing at the Church. Another mumbled answer from Cliff gives Carter an idea. He asks Ann if she would be nice enough to introduce Cliff to some of the other residents of Mineral Town. Ann gladly agrees to take Cliff around town later.
This event won't happen during the Fall.
Green HeartOnce you've reached your 2nd year in the game, go to Doug's Inn on a Saturday between 11am and 1pm. Inside you'll find Doug and Ann talking to each other. Doug is wondering how long Cliff will stay in Mineral Town and he hopes that Cliff doesn't leave. Cliff then walks in and asks what the two of them are talking about. Doug tries to keep cool, but Ann blurts out and asks how long Cliff is planning on staying in town! Ann tells him that he can stay at the Inn forever if he wanted to. Cliff thanks them for their generosity and asks if they're sure about the offer. Both Ann and Doug are very sure they would like to have Cliff around forever.
Orange HeartGo to the Winery Storehouse on any day except Saturday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm once you've reached your 4th year in the game. Cliff is hard at work at the Winery so Ann has come by to deliver his lunch. Duke walks in and Ann gives him a friendly greeting. Duke asks what she's doing here and Cliff says she's come to bring him his lunch. Duke laughs and thanks Ann for bringing Cliff's lunch, then makes a small comment on how they look like newlyweds! Ann is truly embarrassed and Cliff reacts in shock! She naturally denies anything is going on and runs out of the Winery. Duke doesn't see the problem with his comment and then ask Cliff when he's going to propose marriage to Ann. Cliff is still taken back by Duke's suggestion and doesn't know what to say.
Doctor runs the Mineral Clinic in town, along with his assistant Elli. If you are feeling weak you can visit him to purchase medicine. When you overwork yourself and pass out, you'll wake up in one of Doctor's beds. The Doc knows he has a great responsibility to take care of the villager's health. He is a very serious man who is deeply involved with his work.
Doctor's Heart Events
Black HeartVisit the Clinic on Monday, Thursday, or Saturday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. As you walk into the office, Doctor will ask if you're a patient. He then notices that you're not one of the villagers. After he realizes you're the new farmer he introduces himself. If you ever start feeling bad then come visit him! He says the villagers are healthy people compared to those living in the city, but there is always need for someone in the medical field.
Doctor is already worried about your health. Running a farm is hard work! He then asks if you could try a new medicine that came from another town. It's suppose to regain a person's strength and fatigue at the same time. Doctor doesn't think it's effective enough and isn't sure if he should sell it at the Clinic. It's been improved but he thinks it's still too bitter. If you choose to drink it (O...Okay) he'll be happy that you're up to the challenge (eek!) and he hands you a dose of medicine.
Holy smokes it tastes bad. Yuck! He pretty much guessed that it still isn't tasty, but asks if it was effective. You nervously nod your head and he's happy, but you decline to take another drink! Oh well, he thanks you for helping him out anyway.
Purple HeartHead to the Clinic on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. As you walk in and head towards the office, Doctor is glad to see you've come to visit. He's had a new medicine delivered to him (ut oh, not again!). If you don't flee (option #2) he'll rejoice. He's glad you have an interest in this! Doctor will ask you to wait in his office, then he'll go to Elli's counter to pick up the new medicine. He says this time you'll enjoy it because this medicine is suppose to recover your strength and fatigue at the same time. This one should be twice as effective as the last one he had you try. You're a little hesitant to drink it though!
He think it will taste the same as the last time, but you agree to give it a try. After you drink his medicine you don't feel so good. Doctor calls for Elli to hurry to his office.
When you wake up, Doctor apologizes for your condition. When Doc tried the medicine earlier he didn't feel such a negative affect. You're already beginning to feel better, and so Elli suggests maybe he needs to stop asking you to drink his medicine.

Visit the Clinic on any day except Wednesday, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. As you enter the building Elli will ask you how your farm is doing. She then mentions that the Doctor wants to give you something. If you ask her what it is (option 1) she'll ask you to go into his office.
Doctor is happy to see you and says he wants to give you something. He wants to try a different type of healing technique that is popular in the city. The gift he gives you is the Negative Ion and he says it will help you to relax. Doctor says he's beginning to believe the best way to heal people is to make them happy.
Yellow HeartThis event can occur on Friday, Saturday, or Monday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. As you walk in the door Elli tells you that the Doctor's appearance has been strange lately. She has seen him thinking deeply and she can't seem to talk to him.
Go speak with Doctor. He is surprised that Elli is worried about him. Doctor says he has been thinking of various things today, like his patients. He thinks that people feel uneasy around him and he has been thinking how to make that not happen anymore. If you suggest that it's good to have and open heart (option 1) he will agree with you. He says it's wonderous that a person's troubles go away when they talk about it. You have made him feel a lot better.
Doctor's Rival Events
Black HeartGo to the clinic on any day except Tuesday or Wednesday when Doctor's heart color is black. When you enter the door you'll see Elli and Doctor talking to each other. Elli has been working hard and she's feeling a little tired, so Doctor reminds her not to work too hard. Elli is happy that Doctor is concered about her health, but Doctor is just more worried that his clinic's nurse will overwork herself!
Elli was hoping that Doctor was more concerend about her than her role as the nurse. She becomes a little sad and Doctor doesn't understand what he might of said to upset her.
Blue HeartGo to Ellen's house on Monday between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. Ellen isn't feeling very well so Elli and the Doctor have come by to visit. Ellen says she's feeling better, but Doctor says she probably has a cold and just needs some rest. When he asks Ellen how her legs are feeling, she says they hurt as always. Doctor feels guilty for not being able to help Ellen with her legs, but Ellen and Elli tell him he does enough work. Doctor thanks them for their compliments and he walks back to the clinic.
Green HeartOnce you have reached your second year in the game, go to the Clinic on any day except Tuesday and Wednesday between 9:00 am and 7:00pm. Inside you'll find Doctor coughing as though he is sick! Elli suggests that he take the day off, but Doctor is stubborn and says that he couldn't let the villagers down if he took time off. Elli is concerned about his health so Doctor says he can take care of himself and says it's okey because she is with him.
Elli requests that he doesn't try to overdo his work, else she'll get mad at him. Doctor laughs and says that she would make a good wife someday.
Orange HeartAfter you reach your 4th year, go to Mineral Beach on a Wednesday between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm. The weather must be sunny. You'll see Doctor and Elli standing on the beach. Elli asks him if there was a reason he asked her out to the beach. Doctor mumbles for a bit and nervously asks how her grandma is doing. Elli tells him that she massages Ellen's legs every day, but she hopes to someday cure her grandmother. Doctor says that Elli is strong and then finally admits that he has fallen in love with her! Elli blushes sweetly while Doctor continues to explain that he wants her to stay by his side.
After marriage, Doctor will still continue to work at the clinic. He will be there in the morning when you wake up, but then he leaves at 8:00 am. Doctor returns home at 8:00 pm, just before bedtime.
When your character becomes pregnant and it is time for the baby to be born, Doctor will wait in the Kitchen while Elli assists with the birth.
Winter 06 / alt. Winter 23
Gray has moved from the city to become his Grandpa Saibara's apprentice in Blacksmithing. Gray works hard in Saibara's shop and is always trying to earn the old man's respect. He's frustrated a lot because he believes Saibara doesn't recognize his hard work. Gray is an angry person, but perhaps you can show him that not everything in the world is covered in black soot.
Gray's Heart Events
Black HeartHead into the Blacksmith shop on Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday between 10:10 am and 1:00 pm. Inside you'll find Gray very upset at his grandpa Saibara. You've walked into the middle of an argument! The two of them finally notice that you're standing in the doorway. Gray rudely demands to know why you are looking at him. Saibara interrupts and yells at him for being discourteous to a customer.
Saibara welcomes you to his shop. He then becomes embarrassed at his actions and beings to make up an excuse. Gray says that he's doesn't feel appreciated and plans on giving up, so you tell him to keep practicing with his training (response #1). Gray is surprised and thanks you for your kindness. He's going to talk to his grandpa and learn what he can.
Purple HeartVisit the 2nd floor of Doug's Inn on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Upstairs Gray will apologize for his behavior during the Black Heart event. He says he is not use to having people around but that he is somehow comfortable with you.
Gray then remembers that you like to get stuff out of the Mine. He says he too is into gems and ores because it is part of his work. Gray then starts the "whoa is me I am a bad blacksmith" speech, so to cheer him up tell him that he does a Great job. Gray thanks you for your vote of confidence and says he will use his skills to make you something.

As you walk out of your farmhouse door on Monday between 6:00 am and noon, you may bump into Gray. He says he is getting better with his blacksmith training even though Saibara still yells at him. He asks if you are interested in jewely. If you tell him you like jewely a little bit, he will blush and says he wants to give you something. Gray then gives you a Broach that he made without Saibara knowing about it.
Yellow HeartVisit the Blacksmith shop on Monday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Saibara will ask to talk to you. He is glad that you have become friends with his grandson, but he thinks Gray is preoccupied with something. Saibara asks Gray to stop with his work and then requests that he spend some time with you today.
Back at the Inn, Gray apologizes for his Grandpa. He asks if you plan on staying in town for a long time. If you tell him you are, Gray will be glad. He is pleased that you are the type who would not move around and he mentioned how he would miss you if you ever did move away.
Gray's Rival Events
Black HeartHead to Saibara's blacksmith shop on any day except Monday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Inside you'll find Gray and Saibara hard at work. Mary comes walking in and thanks Saibara for some work he did to upgrade one of her tools. While the two of them are talking, Gray lets out a pathetic little ouch" because he hurt himself. Saibara scolds him for being careless but Mary notices he's bleeding all over the place. Gray is trying to act macho but Mary soon takes control of the situation and bandages Gray up.
Blue HeartHead to the Library on any day except Monday between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Inside you'll see Gray looking at some of the books when Mary walks up to him and thanks him for coming to the Library. A lot of people don't visit the Library and that shocks Gray. There are so many good books there why wouldn't anyone not want to go to the Library! Mary asks Gray if he would like to read the novel that she's been writing and he says he'd love to.
Green HeartOnce you reach your 2nd year in the game, walk up to the summit of Mother's Hill on Sunday, Tuesday, or Friday between 7:00 am and 10:00 am. The weather has to be sunny too! At the top, Gray is telling Mary that the Novel that she has been writing is really great. He says that she'll get better with practice, but he doesn't believe he can. When Mary asks what he means, Gray says that no matter how much he practices he can't seem to get better at being a blacksmith. Mary tells him that he's wrong because if he really loves being a blacksmith, then he'll eventually improve automatically.
Orange HeartGo to the Library on Thursday or Saturday between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm after you've reached your fourth year. Inside you'll see Gray and Mary talking. Gray says that his grandpa is finally letting him do some real work, even though it's only small jobs. Mary notices that he seems a little sad, so she asks him what's wrong. Gray says that he owes everything to her. Her talk with him on top of Mother's Hill helped him realize what was going wrong in his life. If he and Mary hadn't had that conversation, Gray says he might of just given up on being a blacksmith!
Gray says that his grandpa is going to give him a test on his blacksmith skills. If he passes the test there's something he wants to ask Mary. He won't tell Mary what is is until after he passes his test.
Gray will continue his apprenticeship at his grandpa's shop. He will leave your house at 8:00 AM and arrive at the shop at 10:00 AM, but he's walking from the direction he came from before he married you. He will leave the shop at 1:00 PM to go home. Gray will stay home for the rest of the day.
Kai is a seasonal resident of the village. Every Summer he'll move in for 30 days, then leave once the Fall season arrives. Kai is a little difficult to court because he's not around most of the year! He runs the Seaside Lodge down on Mineral Beach where he sells food items during different times of the day. On Sundays he closes his shop and takes a day off. Kai sleeps at Doug's Inn and at night you can find him upstairs.
Kai's Heart Events
Black HeartWalk to Mineral Beach on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm (or 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm). Kai will be outside his Shop on the bench. The two of you will start taking about your family. Kai will ask you if it's bad to be a person who doesn't like his family. If you tell him it doesn't really matter (option #2) he seems puzzled. He says his parents are terrible so he leaves every summer to come to the village.
Purple HeartWalk into Kai's Lodge on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday when he is inside. Kai will welcome you to his shop and ask how your farm is going. He asks if you're growing any crops on your farm. You can tell him you're growing Pinkcat Flowers, a lot of Pineapples, or you can tell him that you're embarrassed to tell him that you're not growing anything right now.
If you tell him you're growing a lot of Pineapple, he'll let you know that he really likes Pineapple. Kai will ask if they're good then bring him one.

This event takes some effort on your part to trigger. You can not see this event until you've worked hard enough that day to drop your strength down to 50%. If you have not done enough work that day then you can't see this event. Your stamina level is a critical plot point of the event.
After working hard enough, visit the beach on a Tuesday or Friday between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. As you walk up to Kai you don't feel very well and pass out. Kai calls for help and takes you to the Clinic.
At the Clinic, Doctor explains that you were suffering from the hot weather that has been occurring lately. When Doctor leaves the room, Kai suggests that maybe you should take it easy with your work for a little bit. If you think he might be right (option #1) he will tell you it's always a good idea to take a break now and then. Kai then gives you a Good Luck Charm that he bought from a place far away.
Yellow HeartGo to the Beach on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. You'll find Kai standing on the end of the dock, looking out at the sea. He says he is not getting a lot of customers today. He then asks you what you think of him. Kai says he feels the other boys in town may think he is a jerk because of the way he refuses to act "fake". He wants to know if you think he should change his ways. If you tell him to forget about that thought (option #1) he agrees and believes he should always be honest with himself.
Kai's Rival Events
Black HeartDuring the Summer season only, walk down to Mineral Beach between 3pm and 4pm on a sunny day. Kai has just finished giving Popuri some food that he's cooked. Kai says he knows about food from other towns because he travels in the Winter to avoid the cold. Popuri wonders if her mom would feel better if she ate some of Kai's interesting foods. Kai tells Popuri he'll make her mom some food.
Blue HeartDuring the Summer season, walk down to Mineral Beach between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm on a sunny Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday. Popuri and Kai will be there standing at the shoreline. Popuri thanks Kai for the food he cooked for her mom. The two of them are talking nicely to each other when Rick spots them. Rick demand to know what Kai is doing with his sister and orders her to return to the store. Popuri sticks up for Kai and tells Rick that he needs to stop bothering Kai.
Rick quiets down for a moment, but then starts up with his normal whining. Kai suggests that it might be a good time for Popuri to head back to the store. Popuri apologizes for her obnoxious brother and the two siblings walk home.
Green HeartDuring the Summer season after you have reached your 2nd year, walk down to Mineral Beach on a Sunday between 2pm and 4pm on a sunny day. Popuri and Kai are watching the waves from the edge of the boat dock. Popuri is trying to understand why her brother has a problem with her seeing Kai. Kai tries to convince her that it's because he's trying to protect her. Popuri then asks about Kai's family. Kai begins to complain about his parent and how poorly they treated him. He eventually got fed up with them and left. He says it's given him a lot of opportunities to explore other towns. Popuri mentions that she would like the same thing! Kai is a bit skeptical and says her family is too nice for her to leave.
Orange HeartGo to the Chicken Ranch in the Summer of your 4th year (between 11:30am and 4:00pm) and you'll find Popuri's family and Kai inside. Kai says that he and Popuri plan on leaving the village! Rick asks Popuri if it's true and she says it is. Her brother is mad and blames Kai. Popuri denies that Kai is a bad person and it was all her idea! While the two kids bicker, Lillia pops up and gives permission for Popuri to go.
Rick completely flips out and can't believe what his mom just said! Lillia says there's no point in opposing since she's going to go anyway. She has a condition before Popuri can go though; Kai has to keep Popuri happy forever! Lillia says that Kai doesn't have to give her a reply right away. Kai says he'll consider it and then leaves.
If you marry Kai he'll stop leaving the village at the end of the Summer. After the ceramony is over he'll ask if it's okey to open his Seaside Lodge. If you tell him "no" then he'll stay inside of the house and never leave. If you tell him it's okey, Kai will leave the house at 8:00 am and return for lunch time. Then he leaves for the Lodge and comes home at 8:30 pm every day, except Sunday when his Lodge is closed. On Sundays he'll stay at home all day. Kai will have his Lodge opened all year round instead of just during the Summer season.
If by chance you propose to Kai on the 30th of Summer, he will not stop by on the 1st of Fall to tell you he is leaving. He will disappear from Mineral Town as though he has moved out, but he will return on Fall 06 to attend the wedding.
Fall 27 / alt. Fall 23
Rick helps his mother Lillia run the Poultry farm where you can go to purchase chickens. Rick's father, Rod, left Mineral Town a long time ago in search of a medical herb that can cure his wife's sickness. Rick is a little upset with his father for leaving his mother alone, so he does what he can to assist with the store. He is also very protective of his little sister Popuri, and has mental issues with Kai.
Rick's Heart Events
Black HeartWalk into the Poultry Farm house on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Inside you'll find Lillia, Popuri, and Rick standing in front of their table. Rick says today they've collected a lot of eggs so he took some of them up to the Hot Springs to make them into Spa Boiled Eggs for everybody to eat. They all notice you walk in, so Rick and Lillia introduce themselves. Rick asks if you like eggs, so you can answer you really like them or you think they're bad.
If you tell him you like Eggs, Rick will ask you to wait a moment. He then takes one of the Spa-Boiled Eggs off the table and gives it to you.
Purple HeartGo to the Poultry Farm on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. The residents will greet you as you walk in the door. Rick says he just heard the story about your farm, and he thinks it's challenging to do it alone. Popuri asks if you know anything about raising animals so Rick decides to quiz you!
Rick asks how many days it takes for an egg to hatch. Tell him it takes 3 days (option 1) and he'll think you know a lot about raising animals.

Visit the Poultry Farm house on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday between the hours of 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. As you walk in Lillia and Popuri welcome you to their shop. Rick hears them and welcomes you as well. He then asks if you have a Treasure! He says he was cleaning his room and found what he use to call his Treasure. Rick had received it from his dad and hopes that his dad will return to them some day.
Rick explains that his dad left to search for a flower that will heal his mother's sickness. He's sad because he feels his mom is lonely without his dad around. Rick then apologizes for acting melodramatic. He hopes that he is not making you sad. If you tell him that's he is not, he'll smile and decide to give his "treasure" to you. You'll receive Rick's Watch, his childhood treasure.
Yellow HeartGo to Doug's Inn on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday between 8:30 pm and 10:00 pm. Walk up to the counter so Ann and Doug welcomes you to their Inn. Rick is sitting off to the side and hears that you have entered. He notices that you've finished with your work and invites you to have a drink with him.
The two of you have a nice conversation over a couple of drinks. Rick laughs and mentions that he finds you to be interesting. He's spent so much time talking with you that he's lost track of time! Rick says it's dangerous this late at night and asks if he can escort you back to your house.
